2 Gig is now offering a unique feature to its Go!Control systems and Hi Alarm can hardly wait!  With built-in DVR capabilities, 2Gig is the very FIRST to offer this to self-contained security panels.

First of all, what is a self-contained security panel? 

Well, it is basically a combination between security and automation systems.  It includes the security processor, keypad/interface, sensor hub, back-up battery and a built-in GSM module for cellular communications with the central station, and more!  All you really need is a power source.

2Gig sells more than 300,000 panels per year with home automation capabilities and built-in-Z-Waves (z-wave is designed to integrate with lights, thermostats and other home-automation devices).  2Gig relies on alarm.com, our technology partner, for its automation needs to process commands.  The information from the security panel, automation devices, and surveillance cameras is taken by our tech partner and combines it into a “user-friendly”  interface that is available from the panel or any web-enabled mobile device and computer. 

A common concern customers have is whether the cameras will record if the Internet is down.  This is not an issue with 2Gig’s new DVR capabilities.  Co-founder of 2Gig, Lance Dean, stated in a recent article, “This is going to change the way things are done.”  The DVR feature, “will be an attractive step-up residential and small commercial offering.” 

According to CTO Jeremy Warren, all panels will be “DVR-ready” with SATA hard drives that can store a month of video. 

The new DVR-enabled panels are expected to launch this year!
